What is a Shootout?
The most misnamed event in basketball is the shootout. A shootout is not a team event. You do not play with your team at a shootout. A shootout is
defined as an event that is attended by individuals who are joined together to play on a team in the presence of certified college coaches and
scouting services. A shootout is an individual event.
A shootout is designed to showcase talented players for scholarship purposes. Properly held, shootouts are the finest showcase events.
The quality of players and the number of Division I and II colleges and scouting services attending determine if the shootout is an upper level
